Here’s a throw back for you! I made the McCall’s 7969 pattern up last summer using a remnant I purchased from Hancock Fabrics. When did Hancock’s go out of business again? 2015? 2016? Should I admit how long some of this fabric has been languishing in my stash? That’s not the point, right? Right. Back to the pretty dress.
Pattern: McCall’s 7969
Fabric: It was a remnant, so I’m not 100% certain. It’s a silky polyester, similar to a peach skin fabric. Very soft!
Alterations: A quick and dirty FBA. In other words, I cut the front bodice a size larger and tapered the bodice length a little longer towards the center front.
The pattern is very voluminous with a TON of extra ease. While the dress is very comfortable to wear, it is not a silhouette I am accustomed to seeing on me. I ended up adding elastic to the top of the skirt gathers to help rein in the volume a smidge. Otherwise, the pattern is a very easy, straightforward make. Make sure to get a snap for that neckline, it will not stay closed!
