A Beautiful Animal Print Shirt Dress Must Have For Your Wardrobe

Pattern: McCall’s 7834, View B

Fabric: Animal Print from Fabric Mart Fabrics

Adjustments:

-Lowered the Bust Point

-Full Bust Adjustment (FBA)

-Note: I should have lengthened the bodice by 1″, it was slightly too short for me. For reference, I am 5’10” and carry most of my height in my torso.

Lowering the bust point

To lower the bust point, cut a rectangle around the dart with a little wiggle room. There is not a perfect science to this, the main point is to be able to slide the whole dart down to your specific bust apex.

Making A Full Bust Adjustment

A FBA is slightly more involved, but still try not to over think it. Cut up from the waist line to the apex point, not the dart point. The dart point should be about an inch over towards the side seam. Otherwise, you get Madonna points and usually that’s not the look we want. Then, cut through the middle of the dart up to the dart point, but NOT through. Next, increase all these cut lines by the amount you need. Mine was about 1″. Remember this will affect both front pieces, so that will increase the bust by a total of 2 inches. Remember to true all the pattern lines before proceeding!

Finishing Touches

The collar required the facing to be hand stitched. I get asked a lot how I manage to find time. Here I am working on the hand sewing while my boys are doing their homeschooling work. DO you need to hand sew the facing, no, but the end result of 15 minutes of hand sewing is well worth it.
